About the role

As the Senior Systems Administrator at Hume Bank, you will be responsible for leading the management and optimisation our Bank’s core infrastructure and systems, ensuring a stable and secure environment that supports a high quality banking experience for our customers and staff.

Reporting to the Manager Technology and Infrastructure, you’ll provide technical oversight across a broad range of infrastructure areas including networking, storage, data centres, cloud platforms, backups and key business applications.

You’ll partner closely with other Technology teams to provide advice, troubleshoot problems and improve system resilience, while also contributing to our cyber, data, and End User Computing.

This is a full-time permanent position based at our Head Office in Albury, NSW. Flexible working arrangements, such as Working from Home are available when residing in the Albury area.

What you can expect

  • You will manage the Bank’s core infrastructure, including networking, data storage and replication, virtualisation, cloud services, backup systems, SQL databases and firewalls.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a fit for purpose, stable, and scalable platform to provide the bank with capability.
  • You will analyse and continuously improve technical capabilities and identify opportunities for improved efficiency though technology.
  • Manage appropriate vendor relationships, agreed SLA’s and contractual agreements.
  • Develop and maintain a roadmap for technology identifying opportunities for digital enhancement and futureproofing.

About you

  • Previous experience in a similar role, demonstrating strong understanding of a broad range of infrastructure areas.
  • Hold qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or similar, are desirable
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements e.g. PCI DSS and ISO 27001/27002, NIST, CPS 234
  • Strong knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively on technical and business issues, both internally and externally.
  • Strong stakeholder management and accountability skills.

Our process

  • Once the role is closed, we review all applications against the requirements, creating a shortlist for further review.
  • If your application is successful, you may receive an initial screening call to further assess your suitability, before being invited to an interview.
  • We conduct two rounds of interviews, with the first interview being held with the reporting manager and a member of our People Team. You may be invited back to a shorter second-round interview with the head of the department.
  • The final stage is to complete some quick compliance checks, before (hopefully) receiving an offer.
